I enjoyed this course, visiting areas learned about in grammar school in England. Also picking up on new ideas of areas that were unknown, and getting other peoples take on all legends studied after a gap of 65 years. It is always good to revisit areas of your past.

It gave me a greater understanding of the attitude to life of our ancestors. I may be the university’s oldest student - 87 years old. I have a few difficulties with the technology in some instances.

I guess this topic was more knowledge focused than the other courses I completed. Two topics I enjoyed the most were The Creation Myths and the Australian Dreamtime Myths. The last exercise was helpful. I now have all the information which I can refer to in the future.

The course was comprehensive and each topic could have been a course by themselves. it stimulated thought. I did the course in isolation and would have benefited from other student input, however, I did note that there was not a lot of input from other earlier students. The amount of information was almost overwhelming.

The course is very apt for the beginner writers as well as for more experienced ones. Jenny put us at ease from day one and even before by sending personal emails; worked a magic for me to start pressing the keyboard immediately. Griffith Discussion Board is very effective.

Griffith University Discussion Board, at the very start was difficult to fathom out. Jenny’s welcoming advice removed the fear of attempting to use the board, knowing that my failure to access the board would not hinder learning to write because we could send our episodes directly to her by email.

Broad and interesting range of opportunities over the 8 weeks to write. Prompt feedback with both positive, and where appropriate, negative comments. The opportunity to read and communicate with other course members was also invaluable as they also provided a wider reading audience.

Jenny was an excellent facilitator. She gave us such detailed notes each week filled with valuable information. Her critiquing and comments on our submissions were always positive and extremely helpful. This is the third course I’ve done with U3A Online and will definitely do more.

When I commenced the course, shopping lists, work assessments and reports were about the only writing I had undertaken since leaving school. Jenny taught so many skills and gave so much encouragement that I can now continue to write my memoirs with confidence, knowing they will not be boring.

Initially I was overwhelmed by the posts, attachments etc as well as sharing my story with a group of people whom I didn’t know. After two weeks I felt quite confident with it all.

This course has assisted me to be well on the way to writing my life story. It has also assisted me to write in a more entertaining way which is a lot easier on the reader. Also learning how to use conversation to enhance the contact has helped. Jenny has been very helpful and constructive,
